E-Rate is a program under the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) of Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). This program was designed to allow schools and libraries to receive telecommunication services, Internet access, and internal connections at a discounted rate.

E-Rate is funded up to $2.25 billion annually. These discounts are based on eligibility for free lunch program and urban/rural status. These discounts range from 20%-90%.

E-Rate and the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) are programs run by the United States government. TDS Telecom is a supporter of these programs but does not facilitate them.
