Every year, local telephone companies — including TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) — participate in the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Foundation (WSTF) scholarship program. The companies team up with high schools in their serving areas, encouraging high school seniors to apply for a scholarship. All applications are reviewed by the WSTF; finalists are selected based on grades, academic achievements, and extra-curricular activities.
This year, eight students in TDS serving areas received WSTF scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,500. The recipients include:
• Gaige Kerr, Lakeside Lutheran High School, Lake Mills
• Katelyn Lemmenes, Medford High School
• Kendall Raasch, Medford High School
• Dessa Karl, Neillsville High School
• Catherine Kuecker Edgewood High School, Madison
• Michael Van Dusen, Necedah High School
• Sarah Fincutter, Burlington High School
• Amanda Ritzman, Burlington Catholic Central High School
Since 1966, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.16 million in scholarships to 932 students. The Foundation is part of the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association, a trade organization representing 67 telephone companies and cooperatives in Wisconsin.
