Internet speeds get faster

TDS introduces 10 Mbps high-speed Internet service in Middleton, Verona, and Waunakee, Wis.

In today’s fast-paced world, waiting for files to upload and download is simply a waste of time. With places to be, people to see, and work to be done — not to mention hundreds of songs and movies yet to be downloaded and listened to/watched — you can move even faster online with a new choice from TDS.

For Wisconsin residents in Middleton, Verona, and Waunakee the speed of Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) service is taking a big leap forward as TDS increases download speeds to 10 megabits per second (Mbps).

TDS is working to deploy broadband Internet service to rural and suburban populations where there is great demand for higher Internet speeds.

“The need for speed seems insatiable nationwide,” said Al Ripp, TDS market manager. “TDS is working incredibly hard to deliver what our customers want. We will continue to identify new ways to upgrade our data networks and invest in the infrastructure so that we can provide the high-quality, fast service customers are demanding.”

In addition, TDS sees its investments as a way to help advance economic development. “Without a doubt, the Internet has a vital role in driving our economy. Investments in the communications backbone in the communities we serve will only help to attract new businesses and entrepreneurs to the area, thus driving the local economy,” says Ripp. “That’s great news.”

One key advantage of DSL service is that it provides customers with a dedicated line which helps maximize the speed. Conversely, cable Internet service customers share the same bandwidth, so speeds can vary depending on how many people are logged on at any given time.

TDS’ new 10 Mbps high-speed Internet service has a 768 Kbps upload speed. The introductory price is $14.95 for the first six months when coupled with TDS’ landline phone service. The regular price is $64.95/month or $49.95/month when bundled with a TDS calling package. Customers can also choose the 10 Mbps Internet service only, commonly referred to as naked DSL, for $69.95/month.

High-speed Internet DSL is a distance-sensitive technology and speeds may vary. Therefore, this service may not be available to all TDS customers in Middleton, Verona and Waunakee, Wis. Customers interested in finding out if 10 Mbps service is available at their home should call TDS at 1-888-CALL-TDS.
