TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) rolls out 50Mb Internet service in Monticello, Minn., making it the first TDS market with 50Mb broadband service.
“This is a huge first for TDS,” says Tom Ollig, market manager for TDS. “More importantly, it’s an exciting time for Monticello residents, now enjoying some of the fastest speeds in all of Minnesota.”
This isn’t the first time Monticello has been a first. In fact, Monticello was the first TDS market to receive DSL Internet many years ago.
50Mb Internet speeds are now available to all residents in the city of Monticello. It’s made possible by the fiber network constructed by TDS in 2008. In today’s fast-paced world, Monticello residents can zip along on the Internet – at no additional fee for fiber connectivity – uploading and downloading games, music files, movies, and pictures.

Ollig says, “The need for speed is insatiable, in Monticello and around the nation. TDS is working incredibly hard to deliver the faster speeds customers want.”
In the spring, TDS began offering Monticello residents speeds of 25Mb Internet speeds. Everyone who signed up for 25Mb is now being automatically moved to 50Mb, at no additional charge.
TDS’ new 50Mb broadband Internet service has a 20Mb upload speed. TDS Star Bundle prices start at $64.95/month (phone + 50Mb). Recognizing that some residents are interested in a standalone broadband service, TDS also offers Broadband Raw, with local access to 911 services (in case of emergency) and 50Mb service for $49.95/month.
Customers interested in 50Mb service can call TDS at 1-888-CALL-TDS. With TDS, there’s never a charge to get the fiber connection to your home — today or in the future.
Because everyone always wants to know, “am I really getting the speeds I’m paying for?” TDS encourages customers to test their speeds at www.speedtest.net.
