WSN adds prep softball

Softball season now underway — in-depth analysis and coverage now part of Wisconsin Sports Network Web site

Wisconsin’s premier high school sports Web site — Wisconsin Sports Network (WSN) — announces the addition of fastpitch softball to its site, WisSports.net. Bob Tomlinson has nearly 30 years experience working in the sport and will serve as the site’s editor.

Currently, Tomlinson is the head coach for the Poynette girls' softball team. Since joining the team in 1980, he has led the team to two state titles and 19 conference championships. He is one of just six Wisconsin high school coaches to have recorded more than 400 varsity victories. In 1998, he launched the Fastpitch Chronicle Web site to chronicle the game and the athletes from around the state. In 2007, Tomlinson was inducted into the International Softball Congress Hall of Fame for his work writing about, promoting and playing the game of fastpitch softball.

"Bob Tomlinson has been a staple in the softball community in Wisconsin and nationwide for quite some time and we are very excited to add him to our roster," said Nicholas Kartos, president of WSN. "Bringing The Fastpitch Chronicle on board helps reinforce our position as the statewide leader in high school sports coverage and content."

In addition to softball, WSN’s WisSports.net site features basketball, football and hockey. WSN is also working to add baseball and track to its site yet this spring. WSN is a subsidiary of TDS Telecommunications Corp.
