Calling all Minnesota High School seniors: Now’s the time to apply for $2,000 scholarships that will be awarded by the Minnesota Telecom Alliance Foundation (MTA). TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) is once again participating in the MTA scholarship program.

Interested seniors can access an application, which is due to TDS by March 2, 2012, at: http://www.mnta.org/associations/11041/files/MTAFoundation-ScholarshipApp-2012.pdf

TDS, and other incumbent telephone companies and cooperatives across the state, participate in the MTA scholarship program. Annually, five $2,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors. In late-March, the MTA Foundation will review all submitted applications and select the finalists based on grades, academic achievements, and extra-curricular activities. Preference is given to students with an interest in telecommunications technology and rural communities. Scholarships will be presented during the recipient’s high school graduation or awards night programs.

“TDS is proud to team up with the MTA to help make college a little more accessible and affordable for Minnesota families in our serving areas,” says Tom Ollig, associate market manager for TDS. “Being part of this project, which supports the young people in the community’s we serve, is about being good corporate citizens, which TDS is actively engaged in across the nation."

The Foundation is part of the Minnesota Telecom Alliance, a trade that advocates and represents the interests of more than 80 telecommunications providers throughout Minnesota’s metropolitan and rural communities, including TDS.
