Where to find the Actiontec DSL Gateway 1520 firmware recovery software

The Actiontec R1520SU DSL Gateway Firmware Recovery Software is available here.
This Firmware Recovery Software will return your Actiontec R1520SU DSL Gateway to firmware version 1.130.10.0.63.

The Firmware Recovery Software should only be used when instructed to do so by TDS Internet Services Technical Support.

The following 3 files are needed for Firmware Recovery of the Actiontec R1520SU DSL Gateway:

recover-040825-1.130.10.0.63-r1520su.zip contains the files needed for recovery and is located in the File Attachments section of this FAQ.
recover-040825-1.130.10.0.63-r1520su.zip is in Zip format which requires a utility such as Winzip to extract. Winzip is available on our Software Updates page.

To restore your Actiontec R1520SU DSL Gateway to firmware version 1.130.10.0.56:

  1. Download the recover-040825-1.130.10.0.63-r1520su.zip file.
  2. Extract all of it's contents to a folder or directory on your machine.
  3. Run recover.exe
  4. Unplug the power adapter from the Actiontec DSL Gateway
  5. Using a paperclip or ball-point pen, push and hold the reset button which is located on the back of the Actiontec DSL Gateway.
  6. While continuing to hold the reset button, reconnect the power adapter to the Actiontec DSL Gateway
  7. Continue to hold the reset button while the Actiontec DSL Gateway starts up
  8. After a few seconds, the recover software should indicate that it has found the Actiontec DSL Gateway and is recovering it's firmware

The Firmware recovery should now be complete.
