How to configure Windows 98 or Windows ME for a Static IP

  • Click Start
  • Click Settings
  • Click Control Panel
  • Open Network
  • Select TCP/IP for the network card
  • Click Properties
  • Select the IP Address tab
  • Select Specify an IP address
  • In the IP address field, enter one of your Useable LAN IP addresses
  • In the Subnet field, enter your LAN Subnet
  • Select the Gateway tab
  • In the New Gateway field, enter your LAN Default Gateway IP address and click Add
  • Select the DNS Configuration tab
  • Select Enable DNS
  • In the Host field, enter TDS.NET
  • In the Domain field, enter TDS.NET
  • In ther DNS Server Search Order field, enter 216.165.129.157, click Add
  • In the DNS Server Search Order field, enter 216.170.153.146, click Add
  • Click Ok
  • Click Ok
  • Click Yes
  • At this point your computer will reboot. The computer will then be configured for your Static IP address
