“Stolen-base” Fundraiser Nets JDRF $1,550 62 stolen bases by Madison Mallards in 2006 lead to TDS donation.
Madison, Wis. – 62 bases were stolen during the 2006 Madison Mallards season. At the 2007 Mallards home opener, May 31, TDS presented a check to the Western Wisconsin Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) for $1,550 ($25 per base stolen).
“When someone steals a base, it’s fun, exciting, and slightly unexpected,” says Al Ripp, TDS regional marketing manager. “We believe the stolen-base fundraiser adds to the excitement and it also helps kids fighting juvenile diabetes.”
TDS plans to continue its stolen-base fundraiser with the Madison Mallards in 2007 and hopes fans see a lot more stolen bases that, in turn, will again benefit JDRF.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation representative Elizabeth A. Meland graciously accepts the "stolen-base" donation from TDS, sponsor of the 2006 Madison Mallards "stolen-base" promotion.
