Ever wonder who keeps the band uniforms clean, hemmed, plumed, and braided? In Fountain City, Tenn., Mary Williford does. And she uses the paid time off TDS gives employees to volunteer to care for the 130 uniforms the Central High School Marching Band wears in their moving production.
"My son has been in the band for three years," Mary says. "Helping the school gives me a chance to meet his friends and their parents. Plus, this community is just a part of my life." Laughing, Mary adds, "Volunteering is also a good way to see your kids when they don’t know you’re looking."
TDS offers employees paid time off to volunteer. "I was surprised TDS offered this program considering the economy. It tells me TDS is not just interested in the numbers. They’re interested in their employees and the community. I’m proud to work for TDS."
