TDS starts construction on Englewood, Tennessee fiber network upgrade
TDS Telecommunications, LLC (TDS®) has started construction on an all-fiber network upgrade project in Englewood, Tennessee. The project will deliver fiber-to-the-premises connections including up to 1Gig internet to homes, and dedicated connections up to 10G for businesses. Ultimately, more than 1,200 residential and commercial addresses will gain access to the super-fast speeds.

The Englewood project is being funded entirely by TDS. In nearby Monroe County TDS was recently awarded a $12.9 million grant from the Tennessee Emergency Broadband Fund – American Rescue Plan to help offset the cost of a $23.6 million project to bring fiber connections to Ball Play, Coker Creek, and Tellico Plains.
Contractors have started burying conduit and fiber cable in public utility easement areas, as well as hanging cable on utility poles. Services will become available gradually as sections of the network are completed.
TDS’ fiber technology delivers a range of symmetrical internet options of up to 1Gig for homes, with all products offering equal download and upload speeds. Businesses included in the build area gain dedicated connections up to 10G, as well as phone service including managedIP, a hosted Voice of IP (VoIP) solution.
TDS has served customers in the area for 37 years. The Wisconsin-based company, which started as a group of small telecoms, is now a leader in fiber deployment and serves customers in more than 1,100 communities in 32 states.
